Last Thursday, our community team of Chris O’Connor, Mitch Calahane, Adam Tangata, Ryan Boyle and Jacob Fairbank attended Greetland Allrounders “Sky Try” Skills camp, which was held at Brooksbank School.
38 kids attended and were taught different rugby league skills and small sided games.
Our head coach, Richard Marshall them came to offer his advice to the youngsters, who were from 5 years old up to Greetland’s u11’s, who alongside their head coach, Dan Drury, got a great deal out of the experience and were please to meet the players who they regularly see on the pitch here at the MBi Shay.
Drury said his team got inspired to have the team coached by the Halifax players and he also learnt different skills which he can take away from the session. Leo Kemp, who plays stand off for the under 11’s said the most enjoyable bit was playing bulldogs on their knees, and using the new tackle technique they had learnt from Mitch to great success.
3 of the participants were then interviewed by Fax TV on their experience of the day, which can be seen on the clubs social media.
One person from each of the 2 groups, Jacob Smith and Leo Kemp were awarded with a signed “Sky Try” ball by the 4 players and also each participant got a certificate and a free ticket to today’s game. The participants were also given photos of the 4 players which they got signed at the end of the camp. A warm welcome to all of them today.
Greetland Allrounders junior Chairman, Gavin Davies sent the following email to the Halifax RLFC on his clubs behalf:-
“Just a quick but sincere thank you to everyone from ‘Fax who made one in at the skill camp today. The kids had great fun and it was great for us as a club to have your support”
